Over the last year I have been looking for a career path closer to home, more lucrative financially and of course anything but a cubicle. You can't pay me enough to sit in a cubicle! Two other parameters were to be that if I am going to be selling something it has to be something that I believe in and truly benefits someone. Our nice quiet gated community here at La Fortina has had 36 burglaries with in a 6 month span. In one case a neighbor woman coming home from work was followed through the gate and was kidnapped in her own home as she went to enter it. Their in lies the need for my new venture called security. I am a gadget minded guy, you can't waive enough techie stuff at me to satisfy me. Once we realized how easy and inexpensive it was to set up a security system I immediately built a website that our community could all use to view useful info such as HOA meeting times, events etc. One of the purposes was to get people aware of the crime in our community of around 180 homes. I put in a quick crime stats map that the local newspaper puts online using Google. It is pretty astonishing how much goes on while we think we are secure at home sleeping at night. I did an analysis of what was important to me regarding security.
Here's my list:
1. My immediate family members and those family and friends who dwell elsewhere.
2. Pets also part of the family
3. I don't want a catastrophic loss such as a fire or flood.
4. Possessions, it's cheaper to keep them from getting stolen that to replace them.
5. Peace of mind and even some entertainment remote viewing of the home while away.
I'm sure everyone has their own agenda as to what they value. I do also understand that with varying circumstances security might be for a single home occupant with no family or pets in which case the security would be for just them. The important thing to remember is that if it makes you feel safe if nothing else you'll live longer from less stress worrying about it.

So Jared...you are you set up in your own security system business or are you working for Suncoast who does the ADT Security System. Not sure if you have checked my blog lately but the Dodge was stolen from the parking lot at my workplace in the middle of the afternoon. It was found just a few days ago, some damage to the passenger side, whoever stole it likely hit something. It was found in a garage in an apartment complex in Tukwila...it is at the repair shop right now. They took everything in the front of the cab, my IPOD, the keys to the storage units in Clarkston and Rick's tool boxes. But we got it back! We are having a barbecue for the girls tomorrow to say goodbye, Whit heads to Pacific University on Tuesday (we are taking her down) Reme leaves the 31st for Whittier. Going to be quiet again. Your new venture sounds like a good one and very much needed in this day and age. You will have to tell us more. Please call soon. Would love to hear your voice. Give my love to Jenni and the boys.
Love, Mom
